Can anyone locate audio of this?

    Original story is here.
    Radio caller reveals cannibal habits

Graham Mack, from Teesside-based station TFM, had issued a challenge to listeners to find the most unusual thing they had eaten.

He had come up with the idea for Monday's show to coincide with the return of TV's I'm A Celebrity .. Get Me Out Of Here!, which started the previous evening.

He took a flood of calls giving the type of exotic cuisine he had expected, including snails, sea urchins, monkey brains and dog and horse.

But when he received a call from a woman who once said she had eaten human flesh, he did not know what to say.

The caller, only known as Anthea, said: "I've eaten human being."

Mr Mack slowly replied: "Oh my goodness. Right, all bets are off. You can't beat that. How come you were a cannibal?"

She answered: "It was when I was a child when I lived in Africa. We always went to the same butcher and then suddenly - we were there a couple of years - the meat started to get so much better.

"It was only when we moved back to England a couple of years later that we realised that the butcher had been arrested because he farmed little black girls."

There were gasps in the studio.

Anthea added: "We didn't know at the time. According to my mum it was very delicious but not very nice (inaudible)."

The DJ replied: "So what do you think it was? You thought it was beef?"

She said: "My mum said yes, she was just buying mince."

I have studied cannibalism intensely in the past. My fascination with this maniacal monstrosity first sprang to life when I watched Silence of the Lambs as a little kid. Then a few years ago (I wanna say maybe 4 yrs?) there was a HUGE commotion all over Germany, when a man was arrested for having eaten someone with their consent.

Apparently this man had given an ad to the local newspaper, asking for volunteers to be eaten (I know, one would assume it would be a pointless ad.) however lo and behold, a volunteer does turn up! This man calmly goes over to the said cannibal's house, where the man first drugs him, then cuts off his penis for them to eat together in candle light. Then he puts him to sleep, and eats the rest of him. The problem the German authorities had with this man was that this was a crime that had NEVER been committed before. They didn't know if it could be charged as murder, since the victim wasn't really a "victim" with him having given consent to be eaten beforehand. They ended up making a NEW law against Cannibalism in the justice system, and jailed the real-life Hannibal Lector for a long while.

I also read reports and documentation which had been done on known cannibals, and almost EVERY single person admitted that the taste of human flesh was somehow addictive. One of the cases was that of a man who had escaped from prison with a friend, and they were hiding in the mountains from the police for several days. With starvation becoming unbearable, apparently this man decided to kill and eat his friend. From what he describes, he carefully cuts his friend into little portions, puts them into his sack, and continues his run in the mountains. He finally reaches a small town, where he could very well have eaten real food, but he continues to consume the parts of his friend. When he's out of human-steak, he attacks and kills several villagers and eats them as well. The local authorities in that small village catch him and they bring him back to the prison in the end.

But anyway, a very interesting topic no doubt.

    Ra,

Ooh! I knew I read that story about the cannibal before! Some friends and I were talking about it after listening to the links TM posted... People were doubting its authenticity without seeing record of a butcher eing caught, etc. I mentioned a story I remembered vaguely about a guy who was eaten of his free will... THAT'S the story I was thinking of! I was able to track down an article about it in which the cannibal claims he is going vegetarian.

    What a strange world...

It never occured to me that it might not be authentic

I have to be honest, I thought she was very lucky to be able to have such a high level of "disconnection" from the act of eating human flesh.

Lucky she was so young when it happened and therefore unable to really remember any details. I think that's why she sounds kind of suprised at all the fuss and interest.

It would be more interesting to hear an interview with her Mum
