A pretty slimy method of collecting credit card numbers and other information for no-good, eh? I assume this kind of thing won't stop with NeoPets...

Original story and sample is here.
    Hackers Target Neopets Users

I regularly see a lot of extremely dubious and rather slimy techniques deployed to get end-users to run horrible things or fall for scams. Generally, the targets tend to be the technologically inept or granny, sitting in the corner. See granny? Sure you do, she's right over there replying to the Third King of Nigeria and helping him out with his cash relocation problem.

However, I've come across a scam rapidly spreading across numerous underground forums and IRC channels that is truly one of the scummiest tactics I've seen in some time.

How bad? Allow the following screenshot to spell it out for you.

    Oh my God.
Why can't these hackers just get away from their computers, and live normal lives like normal people!?

I have 3 neopets accounts. I follow all the rules on neo and I rarely do anything besides my daily labbing. Everytime you go to the boards you find someone claiming they were hacked, someone spamming about a hacking site saying that it really works, and someone trying to scam someone else in some way. Best bet is to just stay clear of the boards unless you need to be there, and then be weary of what people say.

Cookie grabbers used to be coded into some user lookups until TNT change it all and made the coding rules different. I bet there are ways to get around it, but its harder now.

If you notice in the comments on that article, there is a person who says he sells neopets game gold. This is against the TaC on neopets and hopefully his site gets shut down. I just thought it was funny that he was saying that there is alot of people breaking the rules but yet he is doing the same thing. Stupid hypocrites lol

I almost think it would be worth it to target WoW. While a lot of adults play it, a lot of kids do too, and given it's required to pay to play, I'd bet a LOT of parents just use their cards to pay the monthly fee.

Also Maplestory. It's rare to see people without some form of NX on their character.

No. We need to target xbox live users. There's loads of people using it and it costs a small fortune to use. It would serve microsoft for charging for something that should be free
