    So the father claims this eases the kid's discomfort from a hernia... Do you believe it?

    Original story is here.

    Two-year-old 'world's youngest smoker'

    A TWO-YEAR-OLD boy from the city of Tianjin in China is the world's youngest smoker.

    Well, at least the youngest to admit it.

    Except he didn't admit it, his dad did, after proudly teaching Tong Liangliang how to spark up between tantrums and milky vomits.

    Liangliang's dad said his son was born with a hernia, and being too young for an operation, has taken up smoking to help him deal with the pain.

    ... Why is he proud?

    Then again we have to remember something. Our country is laden with the greatest amount of self-righteous bungholes who like the sound of their own voices. No one is as anal as we are about ... everything we can think of, especially smoking.

    In any case, smoking at two is insane. I remember my first cig... avoided it like the plague after that. Until one day... but that's another story.

    There are plenty of other ways that the dad could have tried to ease the kids pain, smoking is not the best way in my opinion. It doesnt say what else they tried first, but I wouldnt use that as a way to treat my sons pain unless it was the absolute ONLY thing that worked. No one wants to see their child in pain, so I can understand why he wants to ease the pain, but smoking? Come on.

    The one thing I don't understand is, (and know ahead of time I have absolutely NO knowledge of hernias) how is he too young to go through the surgery for his hernia? I saw this because my friend's nephew had to go through heart surgeries about a day after being born, and has had multiple ones since then.

    Like I said, I don't know anything about hernias, so I could very well just be talking out my ass, but it just doesn't make sense to me. If an infant can go through multiple heart surgeries, why not a hernia surgery? o.o;
