A curious case that doctors are unable to explain... Can you imagine being trapped in the body of an infant? I guess maybe it isn't so bad if mentally you are unaware of the situation...

    Original story is here.

Doctors Baffled, Intrigued by Girl Who Doesn't Age
Years Pass, but Brooke Greenberg Remains a Toddler. No One Can Explain How or Why.

Brooke Greenberg is the size of an infant, with the mental capacity of a toddler.

    She turned 16 in January.

Why doesn't she age?" Howard Greenberg, 52, asked of his daughter. "Is she the fountain of youth?"

Such questions are why scientists are fascinated by Brooke. Among the many documented instances of children who fail to grow or develop in some way, Brooke's case may be unique, according to her doctor, Johns Hopkins School of Medicine pediatrician Lawrence Pakula, in Baltimore.

I wonder how long she'll end up living. Obviously her mysterious condition accompanies lots of other health problems, which will probably take her life eventually.

I have to admit, I'm frightened of the research they'll be doing. If they figure out how to fuck with the aging process, think about what that would mean for mankind. While not destined for the near future, or even within my lifetime, if that code is ever cracked, we're screwed. As it is, our medical advancement has tacked on about 30 years to our life expectancy since 1900. We are not meant to live into senility. We keep fucking with that, we keep providing for our elderly, and biology is not designed to accommodate this. And now we may have been given more pieces to the puzzle of near-immortality? I'm a bit freaked out, to be honest!

I'm keeping my fingers crossed for another meteor.

No need for a meteor, Mother Nature's doing it herself. All sort of STDs which make reproduction a fearful act. And all sorts of super viruses. I have full confidence in her capabilities to rid us from this planet. ^_^

This story reminds of this other girl I heard about. I think her name is Kenadie? She's got Dwarfism and is really tiny but only I think four years old?
    Or something like that.
Actually, I don't see how these two cases are really related at all.
...Well, it makes sense in my mind. : D

    Ra,
A fearful act??? The dumbest ones are the ones that have no fear at all! And the super viruses are becoming super at a rate that only SLIGHTLY trumps that of medical advancement, so each deadly virus only takes a handful of people at a time. We have a loooong way to extinction.

Yeah, but I don't worry. I'm confident the planet will eradicate us from here. The planet has been through a lot worse than us. Been through earthquakes, volcanoes, plate tectonics, continental drift, solar flares, sun spots, magnetic storms, the magnetic reversal of the poles; hundreds of thousands of years of bombardment by comets and asteroids and meteors; worldwide floods, tidal waves, worldwide fires, erosion, cosmic rays, recurring ice ages. The planet will shake us off like a bad case of fleas. A surface nuisance. Nothing more.

Yes, but that will take lots of time. One meteor could solve everything in mere moments.

There'll probably be a nuclear war and we'll all blow each other up before it comes to anything Zoe said.

    That's aweful though. I can't even imagine D:

I have no idea. I would assume if/when they launch them, we will be attempting to shoot them down before they get here, but I have no idea. Some say that they dont have the technology to make ones that can travel the entire ocean to us yet, some say they do, and some say they only have ones that can reach Hawaii. We shall see. Hopefully its just a bunch of talk though.

I hope so, just the thought of it's scary. I would say try and get the Japanese to help us out, with them having superior technology compared to us, they probably have a better arsenal of weapons as well.

Though I don't know /shit/ about this type of stuff.

And korea wants to wipe the US of the map because?

Seriously, something that powerful to completley remove and entire country the size of the US. That could seriously f*ck up the earths orbit, or gravitational pull. Even by a little bit, it still has the potential to do something.

I wouldn't call japan, there defense force is minuscule and is only allowed to be used for defense of their own country.

If you wanted help, you should probably call for the UK or well, canada? After the US, the only other major military powers are China, russia etc. and they wouldn't help.

    Canada has no military.

Nope, not Russia. Used to be is more like it. Russia is a divided country now. China, perhaps. But they wouldn't help as you said.
