Girl laughs for 12 years

A Chinese couple are desperately seeking a cure for their daughter who has been laughing non-stop for 12 years.

The mother, Yang Longying, of Chongqing, says it started when her second child, Xu Pinghui, had a fever when she was just eight months old.

"Ever since then, she has been laughing uncontrollably," she told the Chongqing Evening Post.

The couple say the situation worsened when she reached two years old because she lost her ability to speak and could only laugh.

I think I agree that this is BS, and here's why:

Comparing speech to laughter just doesn't fit. Laughter is a spasm, and speech is a cognitive ability. It's possible she's mimicking the spasm in place of speech, but that's not likely. They seem to be implying that her uncontrollable laughter has impacted her linguistic abilities. That doesn't happen. Unless she shook parts of her brain out of place.

Is it just me or does it seem like all the recent truly bizarre stories seem to be coming out of China?! Is it by sheer number of people that the western world can't keep up with entertaining me with bizarre goodness?

It's not that simple or easy... Tink of the biggest laughing fit you have ever had... The kind where you are gasping for air and your cheeks start to hurt. Imagine if that is what you had every day... For 12 years. Number 1: Think of how annoying this is for everyone around her. Number 2: Poor girl is prbably frustrated (if she is even aware of it since she has been this way for so long). Anything else?

I feel for the kid. We need to start a fund raiser... Or a foundation to help this kid. Stop the Laughs Foundation... Or Shut her the F Up Already Foundation (S.H.T.F.U.A. has a nice ring to it... shit-foo-ah the correct way to pronounce this new foundation?). We can raise lots of money to help me get a new car this poor girl and her family out.
